Sharing things that bring me joy with all of you lovelies. I'm a trainer. I'm one of those lucky people who decided that if you hate what you do for a living, you should stop doing it and go find something you're passionate about. Best advice I ever took. Enjoy the world, people. Make it yours, make it good, make it matter. Be a better human. That's what I'm trying to do. It's a pretty awesome gig.

Diagnosed with ITBS. Which stands for Iliotibial Band Syndrome but I call it IT BULLSHIT.

samesies!  last june, went to get it checked out. actually ITBS on one side, severe IT tendinitis on the other.  went to physical therapy 2x/week for 6 weeks.  did all my homework.  ”graduated” from PT and ran a 10-day multi-distance race in mid-august.  PT is so worth it.

Today’s top book news item:

The 13-book longlist for the Man Booker Prize, the U.K.’s most prominent literary award, was announced Wednesday. The prize is traditionally open to writers from countries in the Commonwealth and Ireland, but this year marks the first time the award will “recognise, celebrate and embrace authors of literary fiction writing in English, whether from Chicago, Sheffield or Shanghai.”

Opening the longlist to Americans sparked fears that Commonwealth authors would have a harder time making it onto the list, and indeed the list includes only one Commonwealth author — Richard Flanagan of Australia — and no authors from Africa or India. The winner will be announced in October. Here’s the full list:

  • To Rise Again at a Decent Hour by Joshua Ferris (U.S.)
  • The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan (Australia)
  • We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler (U.S.)
  • The Blazing World by Siri Hustvedt (U.S.)
  • J by  Howard Jacobson (U.K.)
  • The Wake by Paul Kingsnorth (U.K.)
  • The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell (U.K.)
  • The Lives of Others by Neel Mukherjee (U.K.)
  • Us by David Nicholls (U.K.)
  • The Dog by Joseph O’Neill (U.S.)
  • Orfeo by Richard Powers (U.S.)
  • How to be Both by  Ali Smith (U.K.)
  • History of the Rain by Niall Williams (Ireland)

I tried to get To Rise Again at a Decent Hour the last time i was at my local bookstore, but they didn’t have it. :\

@piercetheveil x @sws_official - they announced a new tour yesterday, make sure to go check it out. Was a little challenging, to photograph so many people at once but I like the outcome!

Remember when they used to say that gay marriage ruins the sanctity of the institution?

i love tv more than anyone i know.  but it’s crap like this that makes me want to coordinate a tv-tossing event whereby we all walk over, rip our TVs out of the wall and throw them out of the nearest window.

The Mata Mata Turtle

Found mostly in South America. Its shell resembles bark, and its head resembles fallen leaves, making it an expert at camouflage. It is also an expert at looking like my nightmares.

World’s Biggest Water Bugs Found in Sichuan, China
Insects the size of human faces have been found in Sichuan province, China, CNN reported. The Insect Museum of West China (which is a real thing, apparently) acquired the insects, which turned out to be dobsonflies, from villagers on the outskirts of Chengdu, CNN said. The largest insect had a wingspan of 8.27 inches and pincers roughly the size of a human pinkie finger.

and thus initiates the list of reasons not to go to china.

The Girl // City and Colour

"Please know I’m yours to keep."

one of my all time faves

There is more and more I tell no one,
strangers nor loves.
This slips into the heart
without hurry, as if it had never been.

And yet, among the trees, something has changed.

Something looks back from the trees,
and knows me for who I am.
